Enrollment Procedures for Hippotherapy
Thank you for your interest in hippotherapy through Gaitway Therapy. Please take a few moments to read all of our available information regarding hippotherapy. There are some very important documents that need to be completed before starting hippotherapy. Hippotherapy is not always indicated in certain instances, therefore an evaluation by the therapist is necessary to determine eligibility.

Enrollment Procedure:
- Read all of the enrollment information
- Complete the Enrollment Documents.
- Return the five enrollment documents to Gaitway Therapy
- Call to request the fee explanation and agreement
- Phone Gaitway Therapy and schedule an Evaluation appointment
Appointments are 30-45 minutes long. Dress for the weather. Participants should wear jeans or soft sweat pants. Nylon, athletic-style wind pants should not be worn by participants when riding. Shorts may be worn in the summer but they are not recommended. Short-sleeve t-shirts are permitted. Please, no sleeve-less shirts.
Gaitway Therapy has an outdoor riding arena. The sandy soil drains well within a few hours after a rain. If the arena is dry enough for walking horses and humans safely, we will do therapy outside on a horse. If the arena is too wet or it is still raining during your hippotherapy appointment, then we will do therapy inside the treatment clinic here at Gaitway Therapy. Physical Therapy will still be fun and effective in our pediatric clinic.
Hippotherapy sessions must be paid in advance. It is our understanding that illness or circumstances arise which may prevent participants from attending hippotherapy sessions that are scheduled and pre-paid. For these reasons, parents may call Gaitway to cancel their session at any time. However pre-arranged, scheduled hippotherapy sessions that are cancelled by the family for any reason will not be refunded or credited. There will also not be any refund or credit for no-shows at pre-arranged, scheduled hippotherapy sessions.
